Details
The Apollo Aura II is a specialist low air loss replacement mattress designed for people at high risk of pressure damage or with existing tissue injury. It combines full immersion with advanced microclimate control to help reduce heat and moisture at the skin surface while giving practical features for everyday clinical use.
Key benefits
- Targeted pressure support – 19 ventilated low air loss cells give even immersion across bony areas to reduce prolonged loading.
- Better skin microclimate – ventilated cells and a vapour-permeable cover help reduce heat and moisture against the skin.
- Flexible therapy modes – alternating, pulsate and static options let carers choose the most suitable setting for each user.
- Safer transfers – an auto-firm feature gives maximum inflation during patient transfers and recovers automatically.
- Easy maintenance – detachable cells, external filters and high-frequency welded seams simplify cleaning and servicing.
Who is this for?
- People assessed as high risk of pressure ulcers or with existing tissue damage who require a specialist support surface.
- Hospitals, care homes or home carers needing a mattress with multiple therapeutic modes and clear maintenance features.
- Users and carers who need a mattress that supports very high body weights (up to 450 kg).
Detailed product description
The Aura II is a specialist low-air-loss replacement mattress that uses 19 low air loss cells, each measuring 8 inches, combined with a static base to provide controlled immersion and support. The cells are ventilated to promote air circulation across the support surface, helping to reduce localised heat and moisture build-up against the skin. The mattress inflates to a finished depth of 22 cm and measures 200 x 90 cm when inflated, making it suitable for standard profiling beds.
Therapeutic options include alternating, pulsate and static functions, allowing staff to choose the mode most appropriate for the user. The accompanying pump operates within a pressure range of 10–30 mmHg and offers a variable cell cycle of 5, 10 or 15 minutes. For practical use the system includes an hours counter to log mattress run time and a simple control layout so carers can operate the unit with minimal additional training.
Safety and rapid-response features include a newly designed flush-fitting CPR quick-deflate valve to allow fast deflation in emergencies, an auto-firm function for transfers that automatically recovers after 30 minutes, plus audible and visual alarms for power failure with an alarm mute button and auto-lockout. The mattress cover is a multi-stretch polyurethane construction that is waterproof and vapour-permeable, and seams are high-frequency welded to reduce the risk of fluid ingress.
Service and upkeep are straightforward: the cells and connectors are detachable for quick replacement or servicing, and the unit uses external air filters that can be accessed and changed easily. The system also offers a Fowler mode for when the bed’s backrest is elevated and supports manual adjustments so the mattress can be tailored to the user’s body shape and position.
