The Alerta Emerald 2 is an alternating overlay mattress system intended for use on top of a standard mattress to offer enhanced pressure redistribution. It features 5 in air cells arranged to alternate inflation and deflation, helping to vary pressure points through the night. The controls are designed for quick setup with simple-to-use settings so a carer can get the system operating at the right pressure for an individual with minimal fuss.

At the heart of the Emerald 2 is SensaCare Truflo Technology®, which uses auto pressure sensing via an air sensor and a microcomputer regulator to monitor and adjust cell pressures. The unit runs from a mains-powered pump that operates in Ultra-Silent mode to keep disturbance to a minimum. The system is compatible with clinical assessment methods and supports clinical pressure mapping evaluation where required.

The mattress surface and components are built for everyday care. It has Nylon TPU-coated cells that are covert sealed and micro-perforated for durability and comfort, and the cells are independently removable for easier replacement or cleaning. Practical details include a pillow function, a CPR quick-release, anchoring straps to keep the overlay in place, a 360° zipper and a zipped storage bag for transport and storage. The cover is a multi-stretch PU material that is water-resistant and vapour permeable, and it is described as antimicrobial and machine washable to help with infection control routines.
