The RMA Wheelchair Powerpack is built as an attendant aid to make outdoor trips more manageable. With twin drive wheels it provides improved traction on slopes and uneven ground, and it fits most manual wheelchairs with a seat width of 360–510mm (14–20"). When you need the chair to be purely manual again, the pack detaches quickly so there is no permanent change to the wheelchair.

Operation is straightforward for the person pushing. A hand-controlled lever gives variable speed control and a reverse function, while a security key switch locks the unit when not in use. Charging is done using the off-board 1.5A charger, keeping the battery separate for easier storage and more convenient charging.

Performance figures help with planning trips: the unit reaches a maximum speed of 3.4 mph (5.5 km/h) and can cover up to 10 miles (16 km) on a full charge. The powerpack is deliberately compact and light to move—its drive unit weighs 6.4 kg with the battery at 6.8 kg, giving a total weight of 13.2 kg—so it can be carried into a car boot alongside the wheelchair.
