Ceiling Track Hoists
Seamless Transfers, Reclaimed Space
Welcome to the Mobility Smart Ceiling Track Hoist collection, the ultimate solution for permanent, safe, and space-saving patient transfers. Unlike temporary gantry hoists that rely on bulky floor-standing frames, these professional systems are a fixed installation mounted securely to your building's structure (such as ceiling joists or concrete). This design keeps your floor completely clear of trip hazards and equipment legs, giving you back valuable living space.
With a ceiling track, the hoist is always overhead and ready to use, providing a smooth, gliding transfer that maximizes dignity for the user and minimizes physical strain for the caregiver. Whether you need a simple straight track for bed-to-chair transfers or a full room-covering X-Y system, browse our range below to find the reliable, high-quality fixed lifting solution that best suits your home or care environment.

Guide to Buying: Is a Ceiling Track Hoist Right for You?
Investing in a patient transfer system is a significant decision. To help you choose between our different mobility solutions, we have broken down the key differences and benefits of installing a permanent ceiling track system.
The Difference: Ceiling Track vs. Gantry Hoists
You may also be looking at "Gantry Hoists" and wondering what the difference is. The primary difference lies in the installation.
- Gantry Hoists (Free-Standing): These look similar to a swing frame. They have legs that sit on the floor and a crossbar that holds the hoist. They are not structurally fixed to the building. They are excellent for temporary situations or rooms where you cannot drill into the ceiling, but the frame legs can take up valuable floor space.
- Ceiling Track Hoists (Fixed Install): As seen in this category, these are a "proper" fixed install. They are bolted professionally into the structural elements of your building. Once installed, they become a seamless part of the room, eliminating the need for bulky frames.
Types of Track Layouts
Because these systems are modular, you can tailor the path of the hoist to your specific needs:
- Straight Track (Monorail): Ideal for simple, linear transfers, such as moving from a bed directly to a wheelchair sitting alongside it.
- Curved Track: Allows the hoist to navigate corners, perhaps moving a user from a bedroom into an en-suite bathroom.
- X-Y (H-Frame) Systems: This involves two parallel rails and a moving cross-rail. It allows the hoist to reach any point within the square coverage area, offering total freedom of movement anywhere in the room.
Installation & Structural Support
Please note that because Mobility Smart Ceiling Track Hoists carry weight overhead, the installation surface must be structurally sound.
- Joist Mounting: Brackets are fixed directly into wooden ceiling joists.
- Concrete Mounting: Anchors are used for solid concrete ceilings.
- Wall-to-Wall: If the ceiling cannot support weight, tracks can sometimes be mounted on wall brackets spanning the room.
Safety and Dignity First
The primary goal of our fixed hoist systems is to reduce the physical strain on caregivers (preventing back injury) while ensuring the user feels secure. The vertical lift and smooth horizontal glide allow for a dignified transfer with minimal swaying or jerking.
