The Aktiv X5 HD is built around a reinforced bariatric frame that gives stable support for heavier users while keeping manoeuvrability practical. As a self-propelled wheelchair, it has large rear wheels with a quick-release mechanism to help with independent movement and easier handling by a carer. The chair has been crash tested to allow safe transportation when fitted correctly in a vehicle, adding reassurance for users who travel frequently.

Comfort features include a supplied padded 50mm seat cushion, a black nylon seat and a nylon tension back with adjustable Velcro straps to help distribute support. Armrests flip back and detach and have PU arm pads to make transfers easier, while the swing-away, angle-adjustable leg rests help you find a comfortable position for the legs and feet.

The chair is practical for daily life thanks to a folding aluminium frame and a fold-down backrest so it stores compactly when not in use. Multiple axle positions allow you to change the seat height for a better fit between self-propel and attendant-propel setups, and safety items such as an anti-tipper and a press-button release safety belt are included to reduce the risk of falls.
