The castellations to the foam surface help to provide effective pressure redistribution by allowing it to conform to the patient’s body and increase the surface area in contact with the mattress, through immersion and envelopment. To helps prevent skin damage and reduce friction and shear, the mattress is fitted with a stitched seam, multi-stretch, vapour permeable cover.
